Accreditation & CE Credits

Knowledge Bureau is a private, designated educational institute which confers certification and the use of certification marks to qualifying graduates of its programs.

Online Studies.  Students may take online courses within an academic path that leads to the earning of a Certificate of Achievement (one course at a time; 30 hours each);  a Practitioner’s Diploma (three courses for a total of 90 hours) or one of two prestigious Specialist Designation Programs:   the MFA™ and DFA – Tax and Bookkeeping Services Specialist™  (six courses for a total of 180 hours of study).

The MFA™ and DFA – Tax and Bookkeeping Services Specialist™ graduates are licensed to use these certification marks, which can be maintained annually with a minimum of 12 hours of ongoing continuing professional development from Knowledge Bureau and adherence to the Standards of Conduct below:

Blended Learning Options:  Online and In-Class.  Students may complete their designation program by taking 4 online courses (120 hours) and then a series of blended learning options for the remaining 60 hours.  This may include the following study options:

1 hour credit Granted for each CE Module prepared with Knowledge Bureau’s Private Clients and strategic learning partners
2 hours credit Take a Free Trial of a Knowledge Bureau Online Course you have not taken before
10 hours credit Enrol in one of three CE Summits held each calendar year
12 hours credit Enrol in the Knowledge Bureau Tool Kit – Calculators.  Learn to use 15 online Calculators over 12 Months
12 hours credit Enrol in the Knowledge Bureau Tool Kit – EverGreen Explanatory Notes.  Perfect for designates who need CE/CPD credits year over year.  This online library is included in the online courses students may wish to take.
15 hours credit Distinguished Advisor Conference
30 hours credit Each Online Certificate Course in the designation programs.  Includes EverGreen Explanatory Notes and access to appropriate calculators required to pass the courses

 

CE/CPD Accreditation by other professional organizations and regulators recognize courses (self-study, workshop and conferences) given by the Knowledge Bureau:  generally providing 1 CE/CPD credit per hour of studies.

Financial Planning Standards Council

Knowledge Bureau certificates are provided for self-assessment purposes. We have reviewed the Guidelines for Providers of Continuing Education Programs from the Financial Planners Standards Council and have developed the programs with these guidelines in mind. Although we will provide the necessary verification of attendance, we understand it is up to the individual licensee to determine whether completion/attendance at this seminar/program/course qualifies for CE/CPD credits.  For more information go to www.fpsc.ca.

Financial Services Commission of Ontario

Knowledge Bureau certificates are provided for self-assessment purposes.  The FSCO does not approve, recommend or endorse specific courses, programs or providers. Members are able to self-submit their credits in order to meet their CE needs at the time of renewal of their license. Content must be related to the technical aspects of life insurance. Knowledge Bureau certificates are provided for self-assessment purposes.  We offer courses designed to meet the technical material relating to life insurance products, financial planning information geared to life insurance, compliance with insurance regulations and ethics. Knowledge Bureau Depending on the firm some responsibility for approval of an individual’s program may be delegated to the appropriate supervisor. We have followed guidelines for continuing education course content, length and rigour which each Member must comply with.  See IIROC website for information on credit requirements.  Knowledge Bureau seeks pre-approval from CECAP for its Distinguished Advisor Conference (DAC) annually.
