Strategic Philanthropy

MFA-Philanthropy™

Master Financial Advisor

Who Should Take This Program?

Advisors looking for specialized professional credentials through investment courses focusing on strategic philanthropy in order to develop plans with individuals and families interested in contributing to the charitable sector.  This is an investment trend that is increasingly important to investors of all ages.  Tapping into client's philanthropic goals, advisors will increase opportunities to build trust by better understanding the clients' values and critical personal causes.

Competencies and Proficiency:

The MFA-Philanthropy  designation will address three key benefits for advisors and their clients:

  • How to incorporate philanthropy into their practice in pragmatic terms
  • How to focus on gift planning strategies and vehicles that are relevant to client's goals
  • Practical experience with numerous working case studies that allow advisors to apply that knowledge.

In Partnership With:

The Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), Knowledge Bureau and Spire Philanthropy are collaborating to introduce this new professional designation for the financial services sector.

What is In the Program?

The MFA-Philanthropy designation requires completion of three online certificate courses over a period of 12 months:

Course 1: Introduction to Strategic Philanthropy

Course 2: Matching Charitable Sector Options with Client Profiles

Course 3: Successful Planning: Case Studies in Strategy Execution

This program features personal instructional support and includes all materials to complete the courses and testing requirements.  Students can expect to spend approximately 100 hours on the three courses.  Group study sessions may also be arranged.
