SESSION OVERVIEW:
Under normal circumstances, many clients are interested in a conversation about the quickest journey to financial freedom, especially as they move closer towards retirement. However, in the unusual circumstances presented by the 2020 pandemic and new bear market volatility, a new conversation is required. In this module, you'll take a primer to building long term net worth that is enhanced by a tax focus. You will learn about how marginal tax rates on investment income sources can differ, and how loss write-offs can be used to reach back to recover taxes paid on previous market gains.
APPROACH:
Tax efficient investing is a critical component of retirement income adequacy. It is the process of selecting investments with the most appropriate tax "preferences" for your age, family status, and income. It's important to focus on four elements in managing wealth: accumulation, growth, preservation, and transition of wealth.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Precaution: what new risk management strategies may apply to income and savings
- Readiness: A recalculation of retirement asset values to determine what your income levels will be, post-pandemic
- Intergenerational Transfers: How to best protect remaining financial assets against further erosion from taxation
LEARNING ACTIVITIES: To test the learning process, the student will answer multiple-choice questions and contemplate the role of the advisor.
* Upon completion of each course, print your certificate from the Certification tab.
