Close to 150 professional tax and financial advisors from across Canada are now certified to prepare files to defend their clients in the case of audit as a result of successfully completing the Audit Defence Distinguished Advisor Workshop recently held in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto.
“These certified practitioners have now learned a consistent and professional method for approaching all types of post-tax-season audit requests and to set up files for a full appeals procedure to the Tax Court level,” said Evelyn Jacks, President of Knowledge Bureau and one of the instructors in this highly participatory session. “It was particularly satisfying to see the confidence the attendees left the session with.”
Covering the “Rules of the Game”, the sessions began with Alan Rowell, MFA, DFA-Tax Services Specialist, who challenged attendees to change their thinking about the three-way relationship between the CRA, the Client, and the Certified Audit Defence Practitioner. Experiential examples including the defence of detailed Net Worth Statement were discussed.

The next Distinguished Advisor Workshops will feature a Corporate Tax Bootcamp in November 2013 and a T1 Personal Tax Bootcamp in January 2014. Early registration at advantageous “early bird” tuition fees will be available until June 30.
