How One Career Can Change Your Life

Tax service professions are one of the few careers that have outpaced economic growth for the past ten years.

In 2010, two-thirds of Canadians filed their income taxes. Yes, that’s right—two-thirds. Half of them will be using the services of an accountant or tax professional to file this year, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters.

Tax service professionals see it every year. They see all kinds of income reported, so they can spot which markets do well one year and not so well the next. However, due to the nature of their work, they’re never worried about their own.

As we’ve mentioned before, tax service professions are one of the few careers that have outpaced economic growth for the past ten years.

So, why are these so often overlooked careers so surprisingly rewarding? Let’s consider three very important factors…

The 3 rewards of being a tax professional

1. Income

According to WowJobs.ca, tax specialists make an average annual salary of $76,939—higher than the nationwide average by 62 percent. That's almost $50,000 more than the national median of $27,800, as reported in Statistics Canada's 2011 National Household Survey results.

Some degree holders out there are wishing they had it as good…

For instance, Bachelor graduates in Social Sciences are in school for a minimum of four years and averaging $44,000 within two years of graduating, according to the 2011 Graduate Outcome Survey.

Entry-level Master's graduates average $60,000 in the same time period while Doctorate graduates average $65,000.

Plus, 60 percent of graduates have an average student debt load of $24,600 to contend with when they hit the real world, according to Maclean’s magazine.

Now, consider this: Graduates of the Knowledge Bureau are completing their designation courses within two years. Since they can work and learn at their own pace, some even choose to complete their courses sooner.

As for that heavy student debt load—forget it. Total fees for winter registration are $3,570 or $3,370 after the full-pay bonus discount is applied.

2. Lifestyle

Ever heard of the Gross National Happiness index? It consists of seven metrics: economic wellness, environmental wellness, physical wellness, mental wellness, workplace wellness, social wellness and political wellness.

When was the last time you assessed those seven metrics in your own life? Have you wondered how you could improve upon any one of them?

Abraham Maslow placed esteem and self-actualization at the top of his hierarchy of needs, deeming them the final frontiers to absolute prosperity. He also wrote: "What a man [or woman] can be, he [or she] must be."

Maslow believed that all human beings hold a desire to accomplish all that they can and must satisfy this desire in order to be the most that they can be.

Essentially, true happiness lies in realizing your full potential. Luckily, the Knowledge Bureau can help you get there faster.

3. Satisfaction

You can become certified to help your friends, neighbours, and even walk-in clients (if you so choose to offer tax preparation as a revenue stream in your business) achieve their goals by helping them with their tax literacy, tax planning, and tax returns.

You can make a difference in people's lives by letting them know they can relax around tax time because you’ll take care of their taxes expertly—and then you get the rest of the year off to take your own R&R or to focus on other business activities like bookkeeping or retirement income planning, for example. Certificates for those skills can be earned with Knowledge Bureau, too.

You can settle down without settling for less

People often have to make sacrifices in their lives in order to achieve a small portion of their dreams. You may think you have to as well. You may even be willing to. We’re here to shatter that myth.

Graduates of the Knowledge Bureau see positive changes in their income, their lifestyles, and their overall satisfaction. All it takes is one click…
