Addressing workplace diversity and inclusion is a core approach for achieving the higher standards of care demanded of today’s tax consultants and financial advisors. But what does it take to rise above our “Canadian Privilege” to achieve better results for a changing demographic landscape in your advisory practice?
It’s an issue that continues to dominate the airways and change the face of work and relationships in society today. Although, financially speaking, Canada’s competitiveness and small business tax provisions have been at the forefront of media coverage following the release of the 2018 Federal Budget, it is the soft skills that address diversity and inclusion that could make the big difference in your success as an advisor of the future, especially because the government has invested heavily there.
At the 15th Annual Distinguished Advisor Conference, November 11-14 in Quebec City, Olympian Caroline Ouellette will tackle this subject; one that is of increasing relevance to impactful service in the financial sector. Particularly as the Federal Government has put emphasis on supporting women in the workforce with gender-equality, including in entrepreneurialism. Caroline is a perfect role model and dynamic thought leader in this area. She will explain how, as an industry, wealth advisors have the opportunity to connect more deeply and effectively with new client profiles, including women, while making a positive social impact.
Another important diversity issue – helping new immigrants - will also be discussed. Timely, as the recent Federal Budget allocated an additional $23 Million to be used over the next two years for multiculturalism programming and immigrant integration into the Canadian workforce.
